Woman Leadership

I personally feel humbled and honored to have this opportunity of being the First Lady of BIC. The New Testament teaches that all Christians should Minister to one another, each person serving as his or her gift allow.

Genesis 1:26-28- despite differences in appearance, both man and woman are created in the image of God. Both man and woman were given dominion over creation. “LET THEM RULE” God said. Verse 28 God blessed them both, therefore Genesis 1 threats men and women equally.

Genesis 2 however, we see gender distinctions Male created before Female. Adam recognizes that a woman was the same kind of being as a man both made out of the same stuff” bone of my bones a flesh of my flesh” (Genesis :23). This text emphasizes similarity, not difference.

Verse 24 then says that husband and wife becomes a unit. Paul states that a woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman (Corinthians 11: 8-11).

Remember the Old Testament reflects a male dominated society; nevertheless, God has used women as Leaders of his people. Miriam the prophetess sang praises to God, teaching other woman in public praising God. Mariam was created as one of the nation’s original Leaders (Micah6:4); Number12:1-5, Exodus15:20-21.

Deborah led Israelites judging their disputes first as other male judge had done (Judges 4:4-5). She had civil, military and religious roles.
Huldah the prophetess gave authoritative message to the high Priest and saved men (2Kings 22:14-20).

In the New Testament

Jesus taught women (Luke 10:38-42), women were among his travelling disciples (Luke 8:1-3) Martha was given the spiritual insight to recognize Jesus as the Messiah, the son of God (Matthew 28:8-10). Women were included among the 120 disciples (Acts1: 13-15). Peter said that the Holy Spirit caused women as well as man to speak (Acts 2:17). The list goes on.

I therefore encourage all women to lead as God instructed them because we are equally blessed like men but should never forget to be submissive to God first and then to our Husbands.
